We are driving with a guide who first explains that he is suffering from typhoid fever in the direction of the rock-hewn churches of Hawzien.<\/p>\n<p>The first of the churches we reach, now with a healthy, different guide, after about 10 kilometers drive on a dirt road, which is being prepared for the asphalt coating. Accordingly, we have to drive bumpy detours again and again.<br \/>\nWas it worth it? The opinions are divided&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-460\" src=\"http:\/\/2018.burbankwerner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Malerei.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"http:\/\/2018.burbankwerner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Malerei.jpg 600w, http:\/\/2018.burbankwerner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Malerei-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The church carved out of the rock (you have know it, of course, in order to recognise it &#8230;) is a more or less dark hole. Originally it was created in the 4th century as a tomb. There is another church, next door, which was conventionally built in the 19th century. There the priest shows us the holy of holies, the place of storage of the (copy of) the Ark of the Covenant.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-458\" src=\"http:\/\/2018.burbankwerner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Kirche1a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/2018.burbankwerner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Kirche1a.jpg 900w, http:\/\/2018.burbankwerner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Kirche1a-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/2018.burbankwerner.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Kirche1a-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The third church, we visit, is located near the town of Wukro. The town stands out due to a complete overflowing construction activity.
